Just like a high performance PC needs efficient cooling to keep the hardware away from any damage, a smartphone with water cooled CPU seems interesting. Japanese electronics maker NEC has revealed the world’s first water-cooled CPU smartphone, the Medias X 06E which is targeted towards geeky women with a unique feature called ladyphone that lights-up a pendant. The cooling credentials come courtesy a graphite sheet running along the motherboard and a water-filled heat pipe funnel that take the heat away from quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Since there is cooling for the processor of the smartphone therefore the 1.7 GHz APQo64T chip (with four 1.7 GHz Krait cores) and Adreno 320 GPU can be cloaked to full power without compromising battery life or other hardware functioning in the long run.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean powered Medias X 06E has a 4.7 inch 720p OLED screen, boasts-off a 13.1 megapixel Exmor RS camera and waterproof feature (more than 1m of water) which is great news for buyers looking for something that is different. The water cooled smartphone is all set to be launched for Japan’s NTT DoCoMo network in June 2013 for an unrevealed price.
