Hyperloop pods run on solar energy to transport you across cities at 1,220 km/h
Millionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk has a vision for future of transportation that will run solely on Sun’s energy. He calls it the Hyperloop and if what he envisions can be transformed into reality then we could be seeing people reaching from San Francisco to Las Angles in 30 minutes time. Somewhere between an electric car, Concorde plane, rail gun and a spaceship, this public transit will have passenger-packed pods zipping past at speeds of 1,220 km/h with each of these pods about 6.5 feet away from each other running in low pressure tubes from one destination to the other. Since these pods will be running on a cushion of air with almost zero friction just like the Maglev train, therefore it will be able to traverse from one point to the other with least problems.
The Hyperloop pods will reach supersonic speeds courtesy the linear electric motor, harnessing the sun’s energy to propel forward. According to Musk, his proposed system is much better and far cheaper than the $70 billion high-speed rail system proposed for California as his Hyperloop could be completed within the estimated budget of $6 billion in 7 to 10 years time. The biggest advantage of Musk’s system is that it will run on abundant source of energy and since the pods will run at a distance from each other therefore chances of accident are very less.
Musk has proposed this ingenious project to make it a win win situation for passengers as well as authorities that will have these pods running with almost minimal maintenance costs as well as running costs. The solar-powered Hyperloop if comes to reality, then it will truly revolutionize the transportation in the future.
