Smartphone controlled Lego CUBERSTORMER 3 robot solves Rubik’s Cube in record time
If you always thought that solving a Rubik’s Cube is impossible thing to do over and over again, then solving it in record time would be your wildest imagination never accomplished in real life. But with robots anything can be possible. Meet CUBESTORMER 3 robot developed by David Gilday and Mike Dobson which has recently become the record holder for fastest Rubik’s Cube solver. ARM-powered CUBESTORMER 3 has some of its movable parts made out of Lego bricks, making it a unique robot in itself. At the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham UK, CUBESTORMER 3 robot broke the Guinness World Record for fastest time taken to solve a Rubik’s Cube at 3.253 seconds, breaking the earlier record set by CUBESTORMER 2 at 5.27 seconds. Apparently human brain is not that far behind when it comes to solving a speed cube, clocking at a record 5.27 seconds.
Lego robot with swift hands that can solve any complex Rubik’s Cube in a matter of seconds.
CUBERSTORMER 3 uses a Samsung Galaxy 4 as its platform which is beefed up with an Enynos 5 Octa application processor having 8 core ARM big.LITTLE implementation featuring Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 processors. The smartphone’s brain is connected to four robotic hands that move the Rubik’s Cube in any desired direction with maximum precision once the phone has analyzed the correct sequence of moves.
Along with all the processing power loaded into the Samsung Galaxy 4 phone, an independent braking system optimizes the speed and mechanical flexibility for solving the Rubik’s Cube.
Just having a look at the robot solving this Rubik’s Cube is making my eyes go wide open. Imagine what all possibilities this Rubik’s Cube solving robot would have in other applications.
