Hot Wheels and Star Wars join hands to create life-size Darth Vader car
American toy manufacturing company Mattel is all set to unveil a life-size Darth Vader car at the Comic-Con in San Diego today. To be displayed at Mattel’s booth, the one of a kind full scale version of the Darth Vader car is one amazing collaboration between the Star Wars and Hot Wheels. Designed to impersonate the 1:64 scale Hot Wheels version in every way, the Darth Vader inspired car is fully functional and reportedly can drive at speeds up to 80 mph.
Built using a C5 Corvette chassis as the basic platform, the Darth Vader Car has a backlit, side-exit exhaust system and the grill is designed to resemble Vader’s mask. It uses a tuned LS3 V8 engine which is capable of sending 526 horsepower to the rear wheels. The nose piece of the car is made from carbon fiber and this one-off vehicle features custom set of wheels from MHT. That’s not all, as the manufacturers have also integrated Lord Vader’s signature breathing into the car.
And for all Vader fans, a limited toy version of the car with a commemorative case and light saber is also available at the Mattel Booth for $40.
