New Volvo XC90 will be coming with Thor’s Hammer shaped headlights
Volvo has released some additional details on their upcoming XC90 model which will be launched in Stockholm in two weeks’ time. The carmaker has revealed latest images of front end of the car. T-shaped LED running lights is the talking point here, which have been christened “Thor’s Hammer” by the design team. Promoted as world’s first no-compromise SUV, the new XC90 is developed on the Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) modular chassis technology.
These newly designed SPA chassis will improve the exterior design of the vehicle along with the proving flexibility to the interior space. The technology reduces curb weight and improves weight distribution, thus improving drivability and offering extra comfort to the passengers. Designed to be safer and compact, the 2015 XC90 comes with sliding function on all second row seats, thus creating more legroom for passengers in the third row. A new range of Drive-E engines were also introduced by Volvo based on 2 liter, four-cylinder diesel and petrol units. The T8 plug-in hybrid model will be combining a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver 400bhp with 60g/km. The Volvo 2015 XC90 model is constructed using high-strength boron steel to provide extra safety.
