Polaroid has revealed its long awaited Socialmatic Camera at the world’s leading Photokina imaging fair. The square camera gets its design inspiration from the Instagram logo which itself in the first place was taken from a Polaroid camera. Socialmatic was born from a concept camera turned crowdfunding campaign that was purchased by Polaroid and surged towards the manufacturing process. The connected camera comes with a 14MP front facing camera. Polaroid Socialmatic camera can print 2”x 3” photos without ink with the help of ZINK Zero Ink Technology that provides inkless printing by embedding color into paper.

The on-board 4GB internal memory allows the user to save all the photos. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the pre-installed Android-based operating system allows you to share these photos with the world. The top right-corner features a small LCD which is referred as ‘Frontal LCD with mood assistant AI’ by the company. It shows a smiley face that gets happier when you click and share more photos and turns sad when the camera is not used regularly. The other side of the camera comes with a 4.5-inch touchscreen and has a 2-megapixel camera. Scheduled to be launched this fall, now the current release of the Polaroid’s Socialmatic camera has been pushed to early 2015. It is expected to come with a price tag of $390 USD.
