Apple announces iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and a 27-inch iMac with Touch ID feature

Apple iPad Air 2

After launching the iPhone 6 about a month ago, Apple have added two more gadgets to its line of tablets. The Cupertino-based company officially announced two new iPads at an event in California on October 16. Dubbed iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, the next generation Apple iPads will start shipping by the end of next week with pre-orders starting today. Apple also introduced a 27-inch iMac with Retina display and Apple’s latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite at the event.

Apple iPad Air 2

The iPad Air 2 is powered from a new A8X processor which helps to provide console-level graphics has a display that comes with an anti-reflective coating. At 6.1 mm, Apple claims it to be 18% thinner and 40 percent faster than the original iPad Air. The device is equipped with an 8MP iSight camera which is capable of recording 1080p video and has a battery life of 10 hours. Apple have added Touch ID feature to the iPad, allowing you to use your fingerprint to log into the iPad. Available in silver, space gray, and gold colors, the iPad Air 2 will be offered in three storage capacities with price starting from $499.

Apple iPad Mini 3

The new iPad Mini 3 features a 7.9-inch screen and comes equipped with a 5MP iSight camera and the Touch ID fingerprint sensor also. Like the iPad Air 2, the new iPad Mini 3 will be offered in silver, space gray and gold colors and three size options with price starting from $399.

Apple 27-inch iMac

The newly introduced 27-inch iMac boasts an Intel 3.5GHz Quad-core i5 processor which can be upgraded to 4GHz. Some other features include 1TB of Fusion drive, AMD Radeon R9 295 graphics, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and two Thunderbolt 2 ports. Price starts at $2,499. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook also announced Apple Pay, company’s mobile payment platform which will be launched on October 21.
