Hoonicorn RTR for Gymkhana 7 video is the best car Ken Block has ever driven
When it comes to burning rubber on the tarmac, no one compares to Ken Block. Whether it is on the snow with his Ford F-150 RaptorTRAX or the Gymkhana 6 Ford Fiesta replica RC car. After the success of Gymkhana 6, Ken is all set to show-off his drifting and racing skills in Gymkhana 7 and his ride for this edition is going to be a muscle car that will blow you away. The Hoonicorn RTR (probably reminiscent of the Unicorn legend due to the look) is a combination of retro and modern all-wheel drive 1965 Ford Mustang notchback which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Hoonicorn RTR specifications
The car is on show at Ford booth in SEMA 2014 and it comes as no surprise that the all-wheel drive was in the making from two years at ASD Motorsports in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hoonicorn RTR is heavily modified by RTR and ASD Motorsports for Gymkhana 7 project as it now has 410 cubic inch Roush Yates V8 engine mated with a one-off Sadev all-wheel drive system. The car also featured a lot of current breed WRC car inspirations and influences from Block’s toy cars as a kid.
According to Ken this is the best Gymkhana car that he has driven so far owing to the attention to detail fabrication and body work. It is going to be one hell an experience to see Ken drive this muscle car and already there is a short clip that may actually be from one of the shots of the Gymkhana 7 video.
