Detroit Auto Show 2015: 2016 Chevrolet Volt hybrid electric sedan boasts energy efficient engine
After being shown-off briefly at CES 2015, more details of 2016 Chevrolet Volt rolled-in at the Detroit Auto Show 2015 in Cobo Center. The hybrid electric car concept all set to roll-out in 2016 is an improvement on its predecessor with a lightweight electric propulsion system that has improved performance courtesy its 18.4 kWh battery. This means an improvement of 12 miles on the last year’s model when it comes to going on electric power alone which accounts to 50 miles.
Chevrolet Volt is good on average when it comes to fuel consumption when electric mode is not on. It can go almost 1000 miles on full tank. The two-motor drive unit of the car is also light weight which gives it more energy efficiency to improve performance.
According to the car maker, Volt is inspired by the muscular and tones physique of athletes. Frankly speaking it does look good with a very fine tuned sharp design which gives the car an aesthetic appeal.
Interestingly Chevrolet Volt will give the Tesla S Sedan which can go 265 on one charge a good run for its money. Apparently Tesla S Sedan costs $70,000 whereas Volt is going to cost around $35,000 which is almost half the cost and is a five passenger car.
