Detroit Auto Show 2015: 2017 Ford GT supercar is a beautiful monster!
Ford is back at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit (Detroit Auto Show) with the legendary GT supercar. Yes, the 2017 Ford GT supercar got revealed at the mega auto show as it blew everyone away, not only with its looks but overall design and performance. All set for production to begin later next year the 2017 Ford GT will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Ford GT40 when it is finally available for purchase in early 2017. And by the way it should not come as a surprise that the car is tailor-made to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This Ford GT is going to be powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine providing 600 horsepower that is mated to a dual clutch 7-speed automated trans-axle drivetrain. Most of the body components are made from carbon fiber material. Even the rear wheel carbon ceramic brakes are made partly with carbon fiber. The lightweight racer has carbon fiber drive cell wherein the suspension is attached to the aluminum-alloy sub-frames.
The interiors of this supercar too are nothing less than impressive with swing-up clamshell doors and a F1 racing-inspired square steering wheel. The racing car feel doesn’t stop there, the gear shift paddles are huge to invoke adrenaline rush at high speeds, snug racing-style cockpit seats are inviting and the rotary transmission selector is also upbeat.
2017 Ford GT will be released in select global markets and we believe that the expected price is going to be anywhere in the range of $125k.
Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development said;
The GT is the ultimate execution of an enthusiast supercar. GT includes innovations and technologies that can be applied broadly across Ford’s future product portfolio – another proof point that Ford continues raising the performance bar while ultimately improving vehicles for all of our customers.
