Apple plans to enter auto market with an electric car
Apple Inc. is one of the leading companies in the consumer electronics industry that have conquered the market with their well-known hardware products. After delivering advanced technology gadgets such as Mac line of computers, iPod media players, iPhone smartphone and the iPad tablets to their consumers, the Cupertino, California-based technology giants have turned their attention towards the automotive industry now. Yes, you read it right! The company is currently working on an electric car. According to reports, Apple have hired several hundred of people including some from the auto industry as well to develop an electric car which will resemble a minivan.
Code-named Project Titan, the Apple electric car will compete with Tesla Motors as well as with electric and hybrid cars manufactured by auto giants such as Nissan, GM and Ford Motors. Looks like the company is quite serious about the project as their management team even flew to Austria to meet with contract manufacturers for high-end cars. As per reports, Steve Zadesky, the vice president of iPhone product design is leading the Apple electric car project. He has been permitted to create a 1,000-person team and assign employees from different parts of the company. The team is currently working in a private location a few miles from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.
Though, the project sounds quite interesting, currently there is no further information or images regarding the Apple electric car. Well, we hope to see a prototype of the car soon. With Apple entering the auto market and Google also working on self-driving cars, the future of the automotive industry surely looks bright.
