LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Drive: External hard drive tailor-made for your new MacBook
In a world dominated by mobile devices, external hard disks with fast transfer rates are one of the peripheral devices that are still in great demand. LaCie, a high-end subsidiary of Seagate Technology has released the industry’s first ever external hard disk with reversible USB 3.1 type-C interconnection which is perfect for modern computer, Latest Apple MacBook to be specific. LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Drive has a USB-C port which has same connectors on both the sides that are compatible with standard USB 3.0 (Type-A) or USB 2.0 ports.
LaCie and Porsche Design have been working on their products since 2003 and this external hard drive has speeds of 100MB/s which comes courtesy the USB 3.0 interface. Moreover the hard drive is just 3mm thick solid aluminum material that compliments the MacBook design which suits the Porsche Design brand name too. Keeping in mind that this external hard drive will be used by Mac users therefore it has Time Machine compatibility so that files can be backed-up seamlessly with the built-in software.
LaCie will be available for purchase from LaCie Online Store and Resellers by the next quarter of 2015 in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB capacities. The pricing cannot be speculated at this point in time, since there is no similar product that we can look-up to. Although, it is clear that the pricing of this external hard drive will be revealed in the coming months.
