Nike VR ad lets fans experience what it is like to be Neymar

There is no question about possibilities of Virtual Reality devices and what the technology in itself can help us achieve. While there are endless manufacturers working out various possibilities to promote their products, Nike has teamed with football sensation Brazilian international Neymar to let fans experience what it is like to be Neymar – dribbling, shooting and scoring goals like the Barcelona FC striker.

The virtual reality experience created by Nike to promote its Hypervenom Phantom II soccer boots, allows people to step into Neymar’s boots in a customized 360-degree YouTube video and have a completely mesmerizing on-field experience from Neymar’s perspective only that the user would requires Google Cardboard VR headset. You can however enjoy it using YouTube’s 360-degree feature, which even DJ Avicii has used for an interactive video for his new single.


Applications of virtual reality are not limited to gaming alone. As informed, brands are using the tech to promote their products. YouVisit is one brand that is working on making online tour of colleges’ possible using Oculus Rift VR headset. Yes, you can virtually travel from college to college to investigate, which could be the best one for you. Similarly, to showcase VR applications, Paramount Pictures had partnered with IMAX to hold a travel exhibition based on the Oculus Rift at National Air and Space Museum of Smithsonian Institution, wherein visitors could virtually travel in a Ranger Craft of Interstellar movie.
