Not many of us know that three decades ago, John Sculley was Apple’s CEO, but under strange circumstances he was ousted from the company in 1993. And then the world forgot him. But after a series of founding successful companies and selling them off, John is back with his latest iteration for a world dominated by mobile devices. Obi Worldphone, his venture along with co-founder Robert Brunner is out with a new refreshing design for smartphone that comes with impressive hardware and is targeted towards young, mid-income section of the society.

Obi Worldphone has launched two new models; SF1 and SJ1.5 which both look cool and have innards which will satisfy any demanding smartphone user. Both these eye-catching phones are designed by San Francisco design firm Ammunition who apparently also designed the initial Beats headphones.

Coming on to the flagship SF1 smartphone, it has a slightly raised 5” screen protected by corning gorilla glass 4 that has oleophobic coating to prevent from fingerstains. The full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution has 443 dpi which promises vivid images and depth quality.

This Android Lollipop 5.0.2 phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz 64-bit Octa-core processor and Adreno 405 GPU. The 32GB model will come with 3GB RAM and 16GB one has 2GB RAM. You can further extend the storage with microSD card of up to 64GB. The quick charging 3000 mAh battery is also good at supporting all the tasks you do with this phone and lasts for a long time.

The 4G LTE phone is also good at clicking photos with a rear 13MP AF camera having Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture with LED flash. And there is a 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash too. Obi Worldphone focuses on sound of the phone and therefore has Dolby Audio Surround 7.1 and dual mic for noise cancellation.

The phone with launch in stores and online for locations including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, Pakistan, Turkey and India. Obi Worldphone SF1 16GB will be priced at $199 for the 2GB RAM model and $249 for the 32GB model that has 3GB of RAM.
