Gatorade and Bryce Harper join hands to bring virtual reality experience to the fans
For those who are not good at baseball, but still want to experience the feeling of a baseball player on the pitch, Gatorade has come up with something amazing for you. The sports-themed beverage manufacturer has collaborated with Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper to release a 3-minute, 360-degree Virtual Reality Experience video. The VR will give fans the chance to see, feel and hear what Mr. Harper feels, hears and sees on the pitch while trying to hit the ball out of the park.
The virtual reality experience featuring Bryce Harper has been produced by Gatorade with the help of its agency OMD’s Zero Code and production firm The Mill. The video released yesterday can be experienced by fans using VR headsets which starts with Mr. Harper trying to get a hit with two outs in the bottom of the ninth of a tie game. All of this visual simulation is depicted from his point of view.
During the video experience, you can look at the pitcher. With a left turn, you’ll see the catcher and umpire Jim Joyce. You can see Harper’s CGI arms holding a glowing bat while looking straight ahead and can get a 360 degree view of a packed Nationals Park in Washington as well. Besides that, you’ll hear the crowd noise and commentary from no other than Mr. Harper. As expected, the slugger hits a game-winning home run over the fence displaying a Gatorade Logo.
The VR video was shot by Gatorade and its partners using GoPro cameras last may at the National park. You can enjoy the virtual reality experience as Gatorade has released few videos on YouTube. Harper described the video as epic and was very excited to be a part of it.
