Improved LG Watch Urbane 2 smartwatch comes with cellular 4G connectivity option
LG has just announced its next version of the Watch Urbane smartwatch which is set to be released this spring season. The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is the first ever Android Wear powered wearable to have cellular connectivity feature. The smartwatch offers people who don’t want to pair their smartphone, a way to have a standalone device that can take-up calls. And it gives you the freedom to have 3G or 4G connectivity right on your wrist with a nano-SIM that is not carrier locked.

The new version has a slightly bigger display, but a tad smaller body which gives it a very muscular feel. The 1.38-inch P-OLED circular display has a resolution of 480 x 480 (@ 348dpi) which is by far the best in smartwatch category. The battery has also been improved with a capacity of 570mAh and the Power Saving Mode makes it last throughout a day when the juice is low.
Other than that the water-proof smartwatch has all the typical sensors that you can find in a wearable like accelerometer, gyro, compass, barometer and GPS. For the UI, Watch Urbane 2 comes with 16 in-built watch faces, heart rate monitor, fitness apps, workout tips and stress level monitoring.
According to Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company;
At LG, we don’t think there is a one-size-fits-all wearable device. This second edition of our Watch Urbane aims to be a must-have smart device for active individuals who want to stay connected to the world, whether they’re at work, at home or on the tennis court.
LG Watch Urbane 2 is going to be available in US and Korea initially with availability in other markets including Europe, Asia and Middle East to follow. LG has not announced the date of availability so far, but is expected to announce it in the coming months.
