Life-size Lego Batmobile crafted from half a million Lego bricks
New York-based Lego artist Nathan Sawaya has been fashioning Lego creations for 10 years now, and his love for Lego artwork provides him a medium to channel his creativity when he is not a corporate lawyer. His best master-piece yet just got revealed and it draws inspiration from Batman’s famous ride, the Batmobile. It is not surprising that someone has made a full-sized replica of Batman’s crime fighting machine, but mind-you it is the first time one has crafted a Lego Batmobile of such huge proportions. To make this 18-feet long Batmobile sculpture, Sawaya took help from acclaimed DC Entertainment Co-publisher and artist Jim Lee.
This Lego Batmobile is crafted from 500,000 Lego bricks which took the maker almost three months of intense hardship to come-up with the intended look. The car is as detailed as it can get as Lee also incorporated his own imagination in designing the final details of this superhero vehicle. Together the duo managed to integrate their individual styles into the design of the Batmobile which has some intricate details that can only be noticed when you look closely.
To cut it short, this Lego Batmobile is something that you don’t see very often and no wonder Sawaya is taking it to Art of the Brick: DC Comics, a global exhibition in collaboration with Warner Bros. and DC Comics. That apparently is going to take place in Sydney, Australia in November.
