[Watch] PlayStation VR with 1080p 5.7-inch OLED display, coming in Q1 2016
HTC Vive is slated to launch by Christmas this year, and Oculus Rift headset is coming in the first quarter of 2016. To add heat to the virtual reality space, Sony has teased us with a video displaying what to expect from their virtual reality headset – PlayStation VR. The virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4, according to the released footage, will feature a 1,920 x RGB x 1,080 resolution 5.7-inch OLED display. Offering refresh rate of 120Hz, the VR headset would feature 3D lens and come with both an accelerometer and a gyroscope built in.
Showing the PlayStation VR from all possible angles, the video reveals the head mounted display to have a 360-degree head tracking ability with 100-degree field of view. Embedded with positional tracker with nine LEDs the PlayStation VR is touted to deliver a super low latency – 18 ms according to Sony.
Scheduled to release in first half of 2016, PlayStation VR has 3D audio with mic, stereo jack, USB and HDMI port. Interestingly, the PlayStation VR can stream a game on both the headset and TV, meaning everyone in the family can have the best of virtual reality.
Besides the vague release date, there is no word on when we can expect the PlayStation VR and for what price. So stay tuned for more information, as and when it rolls out, we will have it for you here.
