In its recent event, China Mobile, Apple’s carrier partner, has confirmed that it would be launching iPhone 6c – a 4-inch iPhone, in April 2016 in China. iPhone 6c has been in rumors for quite some time now. The iPhone, which is believed to be a smaller screen version of the large screen iPhone 6 and 6s, is predicted to be pretty similar to the iPhone 5c featuring A9 processor and Apple Pay Support among other things. iPhone 6c is reportedly a low-end phone that will replace iPhone 5c at $449 price tag.

According to AppleInsider, China Mobile revealed a supposed release date for the iPhone 6c through its 2016 product launch calendar.

According to initial rumors, new 4-inch iPhone was expected to be called the iPhone 7c. But considering Apple’s track record; the tech giant does not release a flagship model before September event. It’s unlikely to refer to the new handset as 7c since such a model will not debut before iPhone 7. Media has therefore found a middle way and is referring to the much anticipated handset as iPhone 6c.

Despite a smaller size, iPhone 6c is predicted to feature many similar specifications as iPhone 6 and 6s. Featuring an 1136 × 640 4-inch display, iPhone 6c will be protected by 2.5D glass, have 2GB RAM and sport a metallic unibody design.

The April 2016 launch for iPhone 6c shouldn’t come as a surprise to many, since earlier reports suggest Apple is planning to launch iPhone 6c in March 2016 along with the Apple Watch 2.
