Casio has announced its first ever smartwatch at CES 2016 and it is targeted towards adventure junkies and outdoor fanatics. Android Wear-powered Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters and made from US military grade materials. Since it is specifically made for outdoor activities, therefore it is loaded with pressure sensor, compass and accelerometer to work with a range of native applications. These applications are going to be trekking, cycling and fishing-centric with features that enable them to measure changes in environment and keep tab of activity levels.

The smartwatch has a dual layer display made from monochrome and color LCDs to display information with the least possible battery drain. For example the watch displays watch data in monochrome when you select Timepiece Mode and it works for almost a month without needing a recharge. The watch buttons are large enough to operate even when you have gloves on and with time you’ll be able to push these buttons without even looking at them.

Native apps include ViewRanger GPS app which provides route information, navigation guidance, location data or the waypoints to your next destination. Another app is MyRadar weather app which shows weather in your area in real-time and notifications of severe weather changes. The Moment Setter+ app lets you set timing for certain outdoor activity like fishing or cycling depending on the most active time of fish or morning sunset times.

Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch will work with Android and Apple devices which is great. The watch will come in orange, black and red watch face options with a soft urethane plastic make. It is going to be available in April for a price tag of $500.
