Ampler smart electric bike – Excellent companion for urban commuters
Same way that all phones are gradually being replaced by affordable smartphones, electric bikes would be replaced by sophisticated, simpler ones. Estonia-based Company Ampler has designed, perhaps, one of the best electric bikes for urban commuting. Despite carrying batteries, the bike weighs only 14 kg, which is 35% lighter than common electric bikes, and comes with a dedicated app with a number of functions. The ones to control bike assist ratio, generate journey details on map, and it also indicate battery charge, temperature, voltage, speed, estimated time of arrival etc. But the best part is that it looks like normal bikes.
The app also offers turn-by-turn guidance with quick one-touch access to you personalized riding. The electric bike has set of pre-programmed combinations of bike assist with pedaling. For instance, user can chose a combination of motor at 250 watts and 100 percent assist to gain a maximum speed of 25 kmp or it could be 350 watts and 125 percent assist to ride at a maximum speed of 35 kph.
Ampler is offering its electric bike in two models – 9-speed Billberry in classic look and aggressively designed single-speed Hawk. Ampler bike claims a range of 70 kilometers if rode in regular pedal assist mode and about 40 kilometers in boost mode. The bike takes only three hours to charge.
Ampler is also offering accessories like front and rear carriers and is on crowdfunding site Indiegogo with a starting pledge of $1,690. Shipping across the US and EU is free, so there are no hidden charges, at all.
According to a hands-on review by The Verge, Ampler electric bike is an excellent option for urban commuting from every angle. Now, it only requires flexible solar panels to go completely off the grid.
