Boston Dynamics’ SpotMini robot could be your future housekeeper

Boston Robotics SpotMini Robot

Boston Dynamics have been making serious headway into the field of robotics and practical robots which are going to shape the future. Their most famous creation is the Spot Robotic Dog which seems to have an active conscious and is very smart indeed. Now the Alphabet-owned (presumably, as Toyota is in talks to buy it) company has something ever better for us. A cute little version of Spot which is aptly named as SpotMini.

This small version of robotic dog which till now was only limited to running, turns it into a helper. Having an elongated arm to pick up objects and put them in the designated places, the robot looks to have hit novelty. It can walk around for 90 minutes on one charge, basically climbing stairs, bringing the dishes after dinner and having the occasional funny slip. Just like its big brother SpotMini, the robot revives from a fall and stands on its feet without any problem.

Just look at this robot slip over banana peel!

The all-electric mini version of Spot robot weighs just 55lbs and makes far less noise than other robots by Boston Dynamics. It is loaded with sensors, cameras, solid state gyro (IMU) and proprioception sensors in the limbs.

As you can see from the video clip above, this little chap looks absolutely funny when it has a slip over banana peels.
