For all Android users who had been anxiously waiting; Android 7.0 Nougat is finally rolling out. As usual, the rollout will start with Nexus devices and then move to the other smartphones. The new OS is loaded with a host of new and interesting features, each one of which will enhance the users experience and mobile phone’s performance. Before we touch upon some of the exciting new features of the OS, here are the smartphones that can expect the Nougat update first.

  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus Player
  • Pixel C
  • General Mobile 4G (Android One)

Google confirms that LG V20 will be the first to carry Nougat out of the box.

Quicker multi-tasking is one of the primary features of the new OS. With Nougat on the phone a person will be able to double tap an app button to quickly switch between two recently opened applications.

And just like Samsung users, who can use apps in split-screen mode, Nougat will allow all Android users to use the same feature. Android 7.0 Nougat will feature multiple window support. Users can use multiple windows by long pressing on a recent app button.

Nougat update will come with quick setting mode for features like Bluetooth, and will allows apps to change behavior according to user’s location.

With the new OS you can now set a wallpaper for the home screen and a separate one for the lock screen.

Interestingly, Nougat will support VR headsets such as Vulkan and Daydream.

Given the set of updates Nougat promises for your phone, it is recommended to update your Android version as and when the update is available for your device.
