Alongside the iOS 10, Apple released the much awaited WatchOS 3, latest version of the operating system developed especially for the Apple Watch. Besides other exciting features, the WatchOS 3 makes the Apple wearable faster than ever before. The new update lets you launch apps in one third the time possible in the previous version, this is because recent apps and favorites now stay in the native memory instead of being stored on the connected iPhone.  

The apps can be accessed by clicking the side button on the dock, while a swipe up from the bottom reveal Control Center to access the most used settings.

The WatchOS 3 brings new face options to the smartwatch. You can choose from a variety of faces and customize them with a large selection of apps. The faces are easy to swap so you can have the right face for whatever you are doing i.e. a modular face for office and activity face for the gym.

Sharing is caring – WatchOS 3 understands this and allows you to share activity rings with friends, family or trainer. By sharing, you can motivate yourself and others and also complete to attain a healthy lifestyle. Activity app shows workout metrics – distance, pace, calories, heart rate, and elapsed time all on the same face.

Fitness is for everyone, the WatchOS 3 comes with a Wheelchair mode. This allows chair-bound individuals track their activity. WatchOS 3 also comes with a Breathe app that guides you take deep breaths to release everyday stress.

The OS update brings an exciting new feature for everyone who loves chatting from the watch. Scribble is the new feature and it lets you write out with your finger.

Installing the WatchOS 3 update

The WatchOS 3 is available for free for the Apple Watch, to install, have the Apple Watch connected to an iPhone running latest iOS version. Ensure the Watch has at least 50 percent battery. Once the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, download the update and you’re good to go.

The WatchOS 3 will come pre-installed in the Apple Watch Series 2 launching on September 16.
