DJI Mavic – Compact drone that fits in your pocket
DJI is the best when it comes to consumer drones, and they proved it all-right with Phantom 4. Now the drone maker wants you to fly Mavic, a compact drone small enough to carry in a backpack or even a big back pocket of your pants. This quadcopter is almost half the size of DJI Phantom 4, without any comprise in its functions. To be precise, it can still do subject tracking, autonomous landings, gesture controls and avoid obstacles with ease. Most importantly, its video shooting capability is stunning, since it is loaded with 4K capable 12-megapixel camera shooting at 1080p HD (30 fps).
DJI Mavic has a field of view of 78 degrees which might be a bit less, but still it is overshadowed by its other capabilities. It can fly at a maximum speed of 40 mph (compared to 45 mph of DJI Phantom 4) and has a battery life of 27 minutes. Surprisingly, it can stream videos from a distance of up to 4.3 miles away which is more than that of DJI 4.
Remote of this drone has also reduced in size which is a good thing. However you can also control it with your smartphone via the compatible app. The only thing that’s going to make you a bit skeptical is its price tag of $999 (with the remote) and $749 without the RC.
