Xiaomi Vphone S8: Smallest touch-screen smartphone with just 1.54-inch display
A new touch-screen smartphone ‘Xiaomi Vphone S8’ launched yesterday, claims to be the smallest in its category with a display measuring just 1.4-inch. Its 2.5D curved glass screen is brushed with metal frame and aluminum-magnesium alloy body. The design is minimal and features only one main (power) button and three virtual controls. In first look, it appears identical to the available smartwatches in the market. Indeed, it is sort of smartphone cum smartwatch. It has a speaker and microphone and it can perform all basic functions of a smartphone.
Other than that, it has a built-in FM radio, a second generation heart rate sensor, pedometer, a light sensor, 16MB of RAM, and 128MB of internal storage with option to expand it upto 8GB. However, 380mAh battery pack sounds disappointing. The specifications and tiny size suggests that it is more like a smartwatch than a smartphone or vice versa. The tech specs might not temp you, but in terms of size, S8 sounds adorable.
The phone is compatible with Android as well as iOS devices. In the manufacturer is looking to expand its product to other operating systems too.
It can be paired to other devices using Bluetooth, and lets you read and reply to text messages along with other social networking apps from paired device remotely. For connectivity, other than Bluetooth, it also offers PIN USB and USB 2.0 connection.
S8 is available for $30 in Silver and Black color variants. However, the availability, so far, is limited to Chinese market for now.
