Chi Chi’s amazing story of survival on all four prosthetic legs will melt your heart
Some people are cruel, especially to animals. And then there are ones who cross all limits, and do something which is not worth forgiving. This is a story of golden retriever which was found in a bin bag outside a meat farm in South Korea. Chi Chi was brutally tied up, and most probably deemed for slaughtering, but as destiny would have it, the dog survived.
However, the tight wire bindings ate away the legs, and when an animal welfare group found the dog, it was in dire need of treatment. Unfortunately it was too late to save the dog’s legs, and vets decided to go for quadruple amputation to prevent infection from spreading. That being, the removal of all four paws.
The phase after amputation wasn’t easy for the dog, as bandages had to be applied daily to prevent any infections. The vets in South Korea designed a set of prosthetics for the dog, but they was far away from being comfortable. Also, this meant complete loss in mobility which was stressful for the animal. Chi chi’s video was floated on Facebook, and after seeing it Elizabeth and Richard Howell from Arizona wanted to adopt her.
First six months of the adoption were not easy, since Chi Chi needed care and attention at all times. After the initial period subsided, the couple decided to give the dog prosthetic legs that were comfortable and had a perfect fit. Thanks to the £2,700 raided for this cause and able donation from prosthetist, she now has all four prosthetic legs which give her the freedom to walk again. The prothesist is generous enough, and is making an extra pair for Chi Chi.
What an amazing story of cruelty, survival, humanity and love!
