Lexus turns 2017 IS sedan into a gesture-controlled music visualizer

You have driven fancy cars all your life or maybe if you are not that lucky, you did it in racing games. Four wheelers spark your desire to live life in the fast lane, and if your ride is the coolest in town, it’s an added bonus. Have a look at this 2017 Lexus IS, and it’ll become an object of your desire. Sadly money can’t buy it, as it’s been created as a one off piece. It is draped in 41,999 programmable LEDs which turn it into a canvas for a striking visualization. Frankly, if this was a street legal car, it would grab all the attention on the streets.

Lexus calls it the LIT IS, and it’s been created in collaboration with Vevo to promote UK singer Dua Lipa’s latest video song “Be The One”. The car’s LEDs can sync with the music being played inside, just like a visualizer or you can also control it using hand gestures.

Lexus PR says:

This unique collaboration between Lexus and Vevo showcases the Lexus IS as an incredible work of art, technology and design through the lens of a music video. The 2017 IS has a commanding design and Lexus wanted to amplify those styling cues like never before.

Lexus LIT IS produces 175,000 lumens in its full illumination mode and the LED strips span across the length of half a mile. And those LEDs are obviously placed on a wiring system measuring 5,280 feet.

Brian Bolain, Lexus general manager of product and consumer marketing said:

A car as visually striking as the LIT IS required an equally dramatic debut. A music video was a perfect place to launch the LIT IS and working with Dua Lipa allowed the concept to come to life, putting a spotlight on the Lexus IS in an entirely new way.
