RokBlok – World’s smallest vinyl record player with wireless speakers
San Francisco-based concept company Pink Donut is offering RokBlok to backers on Kickstarter, which the maker claims to be the world’s smallest wireless vinyl record player. It can play records anywhere on almost any surface that can hold a vinyl record because it plays records by lightly riding on top of them instead of working like traditional gramophone. That means, it doesn’t need a specific surface to hold a record and it can be carried in pocket. In brief, it’s a small box that plays records when placed over the records and connects wirelessly to bluetooth speakers or headphones. It’ll work anywhere within a range of 30 feet.
However, it’s not the only one of its kind. We had once written about a Record Runner vinyl player that featured a small Volkswagen car that encircles over the record. Also, there is no dearth of cool vinyl record setup with modern touch.
Anyway, the RokBlok also allow a user to share music with others. User can maintain a tiny profile to listen to favorite records anywhere user can find a flat surface.
RokBlok package includes built-in pre-amp, Bluetooth, speakers and rechargeable battery. The maker claims it to be made for vinyl lovers, but it can also serve those who are not acquainted with vinyl records. The rechargeable battery offers 4 hours of playback time, 2 days standby time with a charging time of 2 hours.
The team has tested final prototype and is now seeking backers to fund their fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. If the maker meets its target, it’ll start mass production to ship back units to backer in later half of 2017.
RokBlok is an interesting device. Of course, vinyl records are popular, but still they are no more in use. Still, it’ll make a good souvenir or a gift to a friend because it’s something random and affordable at $100 retail price. For backers, there is discount of 20-30 percent.
