3D printed AirPods charging dock will keep the headphones charged all the time
The exciting new AirPods have been the most talked about accessory since the iPhone 7 launch. There are people who have ripped the little Bluetooth earpods apart to see their innards, and then there is Reddit user jimbojsb, who has 3D printed a Charging Cradle for the AirPods . The desktop AirPods charging dock is created with a Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 3D printer, and is made to rest the AirPods case supplied by Apple for charging the headphones.
AirPods are supplied with a magnetic carrying case, which doubles as a charger. The case has a Lightning connector at the bottom for charging. It has it’s own built-in battery from the batteries that are inside each AirPods . This means the case can be charged and carried to power the AirPods on the go.
The 3D printed charging dock features a hole in the bottom to pass the cable. Just place the AirPods inside their charging case and dock the case in the 3D printed charging cradle and let it do the rest.
jimbojsb has posted downloadable files of the project on Thingiverse, just in case you want to try your hands at building one for yourself. Else you can order a pre-made cradle through the website.
