3D printed Chevrolet Camaro V8 LS3 engine
3D printing has given new life to additive manufacturing possibilities, making possible what earlier was unthinkable. Take for example creating miniature replicas of car engines, just like the one by Keith. Now, Eric Harrell has made a fully working engine modeled on Chevrolet Camaro V8 LS3 engine. The replica engine is 3D printed taking visual clues from images, repair manuals and diagrams. In fact Eric himself admitted that he didn’t have the real engine to make his task easier.
As you can see from the video above, he has detailed-in the process to create this 3D printed engine replica. In the latter half of the video, the engine can be seen coming to life and pumping the pistons up and down.
Eric is generous enough to have uploaded all the 3D printable files on Thingiverse, and the detailed process to make this Chevvy Camaro V8 LS3 replica in a smaller scale. Just to keep you updated, it took him almost 200 man hours to create the engine himself.
