Volvo is about to introduce Skype in high-end 90 Series cars
The automotive industry has witnessed significant technological growth over the past years or so. Most of us depend on Skype to stay connected to our families, colleagues and clients in our routine personal and professional life. Well, there is good news for fans of Volvo Cars. The premium car maker has announced that it will introduce Skype into its high-end 90 Series cars. The objective is to make lives easier for their customers by allowing them to stay connected while commuting.
Volvo high-end 90 Series cars will feature a large touchscreen dashboard. The dashboard will display a list of scheduled meetings with a slight touch. It also offer instant connectivity via a shortcut to their contact list. With just one tap on displayed meeting summary users can see all details including the organizers and participants involved in the session. Users can quickly dial and speak via a Shortcut ‘Join Meeting’ at the bottom. Hopefully this will not require those pesky pin codes.
User controls the system through a paired smartphone. In a press release, Volvo claimed that they’re also exploring how Cortana, Microsoft’s personal assistant software. There is a probability that it would be integrated into its cars to offer more assistance to users. The brand is also planning to install a ‘seamless voice recognition’ and contextual insights’ system based on the time, location and driving schedule.
