A team of Indian engineers claims to have invented a 3D-Printed prosthetic hand that is way far efficient and affordable than currently available prosthetic in the market. The team from the Amrita University in India showcased its innovation at the tree-day International Robotics and Automation for Humanitarian Application (RAHA 2016) at Amrita University in Kollam, Kerala in India.

This 4m tall, 1.5 ton heavy robot mimics movement of the human inside

Social Media was taken with surprise when Vitaly Bulgaro shared a video of a 4m tall and 1.5 ton heavy manned robot that can walk and mimic movement of the human controlling it, just like in James Cameron’s Avatar. Researchers develop EEG-based, non-invasive robotic arm that converts thoughts into action

A team of researchers from the University of Minnesota have achieved a breakthrough success in the field of prosthesis by developing a non-invasive technology that doesn’t require any implant to transmit brain-signals.  The researchers have developed EEG-based robotic arm that a subject can control through thoughts. As per a study published in Scientific Reports, an electroencephalography (EEG) based brain-computer interface can record even weak electrical singles in the brain of the subject.  The set-up includes a specialized EEG cap that houses 64 electrodes.  The cap processes the signals to transmit it to the robotic arm to grasp or move a subject to specific direction. The entire set-up is like an exoskeleton consisting of a robotic hand and a cap-like headgear that read brain signals and eye movement of the wearer.
