Lucasfilm’s R&D wing ILMxLab is working on a room-scale Star Wars experiment set in virtual reality and they released a video showing how amazing it is. Using HTC Vive VR headset, the wearer is transported to Luke Skywalker’s home planet after the defeat of the Galactic Empire. Dubbed as ‘Trials on Tatooine’, this VR experience was revealed to a group of journalists at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. This is a unique way to experience Star Wars as you fit into the shoes of an unnamed Padawan holding a Lightsaber.

MWC 2016: HTC Vive VR headset announced with price tag of $799

HTC wants to make their VR headset flawless and that’s why they kept a hold on the final commercially available version. They promised the final version of Oculus Rift competitor by April, but it looks like Christmas has come early. HTC has announced that the commercial version of Vive powered by Steam VR and developed in partnership with Valve is going to be up for pre-order on 29 February that is 4 days from now.

Wait for HTC Vive extends till April 2016

HTC Vive VR headset developed in partnership with Valve Steam VR program was promised for a launch around this time for holiday season, but that has been delayed for now. HTC has officially confirmed that potential buyers won’t get their hands on Vive till April 2016. In the meantime they are going to make 7,000 units available to the developers for further improvements to this room-sized (15×15 ft. space) VR experience. Although HTC has promised second-generation version of developers kit at CES 2016 which is speculated to come with subtle changes.

The internet giants have introduced an 8.9 inch display tablet in the form of Nexus 9 which comes with a Tegra K1 chip and is manufactured by HTC. Besides that, the company launched the Motorola Mobility made Nexus 6 smartphone with a 6-inch display and the Nexus player. Manufactured by Asus, the streaming media player is the first device running Android TV. All these devices will be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the latest version of the operating system which was previously referred as “L.”
