R2D2 is by far the most loved character of Star Wars franchise, and it will continue to do so. People never seize to come up with their R2D2 replicas or maybe other things themed around the fictional robotic character. Steve Schmidt from Greenfield has been a die heart Star Wars fan since he was 6 years old, and after seeing the official R2D2 at a convention, he knew what he had to do. Steve set out on building one of his own R2D2 with help from his wife who is also a Star Wars fanatic.

Next generation of toys is apparently revolutionized by advent of drone technologies.  The dreams of children obsessed with Star Wars icons have come true. Toy drone maker Propel has joined Lucasfilm for manufacturing of official quadcopter versions of Starfighters and other crafts like Tie Fighter, X-Wing Starfighters, Speeder Bike etc.  Along with serving the purpose of being memorabilia, these drones are meant to recreate Star Wars dog fights indoor.  These Starfighters can fly, hover, and shoot green and red colored lasers. One of the most exciting gadget showcased at CES 2015 was the BB-8 Droid controlled with a smartwatch like smart wearable. That wearable was in its prototype stage at that moment, but now it has evolved a consumer available product. Called as the Force Band, this Sphero controlling gadget comes with a newly designed BB-8 in battle-worn look inspired by the Force Awakens movie. Both the BB-8 Droid and Force Band will come with their own dedicated iOS and Android apps. The droid will however work with the old app as well.

Sabre Forge, a company that claims, it makes world’s brightest and most durable LED sabers, has reforged its most famous black lotus saber into what they call the frost lotus. The saber comes with a new – blue and white color pallet and is heavily inspired by the R2-D2. The awesome custom lightsaber features precision cut acrylic claws which are interchangeable and blue in color. The body features segmented style switch, a highly detailed crystal chamber with frost blue crystal and four viewing windows. So, imagine how it feels to see elementary kids, first or second grader building droids from discarded materials. A team of 21 little-angles at the Indiamatic Elementary, lead by their art teacher Leann Arnett created three Star Wars inspired droids, and guess what, they have named the project, “Recycle Wars: The Trash Awakens”.
